This summer, I’ve spent time camping — away from the familiar comforts of home — and it’s left me with a deep sense of gratitude. Simple things I often take for granted suddenly became luxuries.
Making a cup of tea in a field, crouched over a small camping stove, is a slower, more deliberate process than simply flicking on the kettle at home. It takes more time, more effort, and a bit of patience. But that pause allowed me to truly appreciate the moment — the gentle wind, the sun on my face, the quiet hum of nature around me.
And when I finally sipped that tea, it tasted better than ever. Not just because of the tea itself, but because of everything around it.
Coming home, I see everything with fresh eyes — the ease, the convenience, the comfort. And I’m filled with gratitude for both the simplicity of nature and the luxuries of home.
Self-kindness is a courageous and essential practice, especially in a world where we’re so often focused on caring for others. Allow yourself to move gently toward self-kindness.
Start with small changes — simple acts of care, compassion, and patience with yourself.
