An Integrated Approach to Counselling and Coaching

I offer a unique, intuitive blend of counselling and coaching—tailored specifically to you. Drawing from therapeutic models such as Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy and Hypnotherapy, I create a bespoke approach, including psych-education, that meets your individual needs, supports your growth, and helps you to achieve meaningful and lasting change.

By combining the reflective, supportive nature of counselling (being with) and the action-oriented focus of coaching (doing with), we’ll cultivate both deep personal insight and practical progress.

Our work together will focus on the 'whole you':

Past You – understanding how your past experiences and patterns may still be affecting your present.

Future You – identifying your goals, values, and hopes for the life you want to build.

Present You – discovering the choices, strengths, and insights you can use right now to create change and move forward.

I also integrate somatic work using relaxation techniques, offering a deeply holistic path to healing by combining body-based awareness with focused inner attention. This approach is grounded in neuroscience and trauma-informed care, recognising that unresolved stress, trauma, and emotional patterns are often stored in the body - particularly within the nervous system. When these patterns remain unprocessed, they can shape how we think, feel, and react, often outside of conscious awareness.

Relaxation techniques - such as guided breathing, progressive muscle relaxation or visualisations - support this work by helping to calm the nervous system and shift the brain into a more regulated state. This creates the internal safety and space needed to access inner sensations, stored memories, and underlying beliefs.

From here, somatic awareness can help you tune into your body’s signals - such as tension, numbness, or movement impulses - so you can begin to process and release what has been held from your past.

Over time, this integrative process fosters emotional clarity, nervous system regulation, and lasting change from the inside out. It helps you live more fully in the present, rather than unconsciously reacting from past experiences.

YOU MAY NOT KNOW IT, BUT YOU’VE ALREADY TAKEN THE FIRST STEP...

Making the decision to reach out to a counsellor can feel scary and confusing. Yet, in my experience, many people struggle alone with mental health challenges, wellbeing concerns, personal crises, or relationship difficulties far longer than is healthy.

While friends can often offer comfort and support, sometimes that help only takes you so far. Recognising that you need something more - and being willing to seek it - is actually a powerful and important first step toward healing, growth, and reducing anxiety.

You don’t have to face these challenges alone. Seeking support is a courageous act of self-care and strength. Together, we can create a safe space where you feel heard and understood. I will guide you to live your life in the present on a path of your choosing.

Whether you’re looking to manage anxiety, work through difficult emotions, or simply find greater balance in your life, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

When you’re ready, I’m ready to listen.

Testimonials

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Relaxation, somatic work (mental imagery) & what to expect:
  • Mental imagery uses aspects of hypnosis and can takes up around 20 minutes.
  • You will need an open mind and be open to change.
  • You will need to embrace your imagination and subconscious mind.
  • You will use your imagination to access the answers that are deep in your subconscious mind.
  • You will use your imagination to visualise how you want to look and feel in your future self.
  • You will overcome any weight loss blocks or barriers in your subconscious.
  • You will feel empowered, inspired and confident so that you can take control of your choices.
Will everything I say be kept confidential?
  • A confidentiality agreement is always necessary when working therapeutically.
  • The sessions are confidential - this is one of the main ways counselling and therapy differ from talking to a friend or relative (see ** below).
  • If you are participating in a group sessions a confidentiality agreement will be discussed and agreed within the group on the first session.
  • Once you are comfortable with the format of the sessions and the safe space it provides, you will find the freedom to speak openly, which can be very liberating and insightful.
  • Corporate clients: confidentiality is critical to facilitate change - I will therefore only give anonymous feedback to the management team after seeking agreement from participants.

**Note: there are some situations where you may be a risk to yourself or others, and the law requires that I notify an authority; in these cases I may not be able to keep total confidentiality. However, breaking confidentiality is quite rare and in most situations when something is disclosed the person usually wants some action to be taken.

How I work with teens/children
  • I will ensure the session content is relevant to the age group in which I am working.
  • For any therapy to have the best chance of being effective it is important that the child or young person is permitted to keep the content of their session private. I also understand you are trusting me to work with your child/teen, and are entitled to know what that involves, and to be updated on how the work is going. With this in mind, please note the following:
  • Please allow your child/teen to decide whether and how much they wish to talk with you about their sessions.
  • If your child/teen discloses something I believe indicates risk of serious harm to themselves or others then I will be in touch with you.
  • I offer regular updates on how the sessions are going, I will always consult with your child/teen beforehand to ensure confidentiality and transparency.
  • I will always regularly check in with your child/teen to see if they are finding the work we are doing together helpful. If they are not then we will bring our work to a close.
  • These sessions includes psychological education and discussion. There will be the need to use other tools like a journal or other home tasks.

**Note: there are some situations where there is a risk to self or others, and the law requires that I notify an authority; in these cases I may not be able to keep total confidentiality. However, breaking confidentiality is quite rare and in most situations when something is disclosed the person usually wants some action to be taken.

  • 1:1 sessions are 1 hour.
  • Group Workshop - Overcome Anxiety & Stress, 4 weekly sessions - lasting one hour.
  • Session times/dates will be negotiated at the time of consultation.
  • I recommend that you do not rush off after group sessions.
Corporate discounts...
  • I offer discounted rates for multiple bookings for any size business.
  • I will come to your workplace, as long as there is a safe, appropriate private environment.
  • We can discuss using another venue if you do not have an appropriate room.
  • Please contact me to ask for more information.
What if I live outside the Plymouth area?
  • We can negotiate a travel fee, at my hourly rate (£55), if you would prefer face to face sessions.
  • I also offer online (Zoom, Microsoft Teams) sessions to accommodate clients outside of the Plymouth area.
  • Please contact me to ask for more information.

  • A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 attendees
  • BONUS - for groups of 6 the host is free

  • Confidentiality - no other person present other than participants
  • I would also encourage groups to support each other outside of sessions via a group chat
Can I attend 1:1 counselling after or alongside the group workshop?

As participation within the group sessions does not offer enough time to include bespoke counselling, I offer discounted rates for those who book 1:1 counselling if they have attended within a group.

What happens if I cancel late, fail to attend or miss a week of group work?

1:1 sessions:

  • I charge a £25 fee for late cancellations.
  • Depending on the situation we can reschedule appointments for sickness.

Groups:

  • Depending on individual circumstances we can arrange a private session, for a small additional fee, or renegotiate a new time/date for the whole group.
  • Any changes will depend on my availability.
  • If you are attending group sessions, the agreement of the rest of the group will be required once payment and dates are confirmed.
